According to reports, Ocean will perform at the annual event next week.

Who knew Wintour is such a fan of hip-hop? Last year, Kanye West was tapped to perform at the Met Gala, right before the rapper released his epic “Yeezus” album. This year, sources say the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Frank Ocean will perform at the fashionable fête. This won’t be the first trip to the ball for Ocean. Last year, it was rumored the openly gay alterna-rapper went home with Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci post-Gala after the two posted a series of cozy late-night pics to Instagram. Last March, reports revealed Frank’s long-awaited follow-up to channel ORANGE was finally forming.

Since deleting his Twitter and Instagram accounts, the reclusive singer has shared little about the follow-up to his 2012 Grammy-winning album channel ORANGE. But in the late hours of Monday, he posted a photo of himself on Tumblr, reassuring fans that a new album is on the way. Photographer Nabil snapped the Odd Future crooner seated in the studio with his back facing the camera. “Frank in the lab.. Making sophomore album game,” said Nabil. (Rap-Up)

Over the fall, Ocean inked an open blog post following an extensive music biz hiatus.

“mind is pretty blank right now. i’m sitting in my kitchen listening to age of consent by new order. i like this song.. i f*ck with that gwen stefani song ‘cool’ too, i never knew 3000 played keyboards on it- sounds like some teen coming of age movie. i used my birthday week pass to stay in my apartment for too long.. sit still and catch up on some information. i saw that movie ‘glengarry glen ross’ and ‘bottle rocket’, ‘pi’, ‘blackfish’ (sea world is the devil), ‘this is the end’ (hahaha), ‘the purge'(smh), some funny horror movie i forgot the name of ‘…’ ” (Frank Ocean’s Tumblr)

Aside from discussing a few literary works, the West Coast crooner also hinted at being back to his music-making ways.

“my homie in aussie suggested that i read ‘mr. norris changes trains’.. the writing was really nice. i read ‘the new jim crow’ it made me not f*ck with humans for an hour. oh and ‘difficult men’ which talked about great tv ..dexter, the wire, the sopranos, breaking bad and whatnot. i didn’t watch any news or read it …figured all that shit was gonna happen either way. i’m back to work these days.” (Frank Ocean’s Tumblr)
