Academy Award-winning actor Forest Whitaker has shared his feelings about his film Hurricane Season, which co-stars Lil Wayne, being released directly to DVD.

The decision to skip movie theaters was upsetting for Whitaker.

According to this post from the Playlist, Whitaker, who’s now at work on a biopic about Louis Armstrong, minced few words. “I think that was a travesty,” he said of the video dump. “… It’s not just about me, the fact that they didn’t do what they said they were going to do is amazing to me. I think that is the modus operandi. But a lot of people are telling me they saw the video on DVD and really responded to it and don’t understand why it wasn’t released and I say, ‘You’ll have to talk to the Weinsteins [about that], I can’t help you.'” (Los Angeles Times)

Writing via Twitter last December, co-star/rapper Bow Wow shared his reaction to the film being leaked online.

“@TherealTaraji im so mad how they did us in hurricane.,” he wrote Tuesday (December 15) night. “not letting us know what they was gone do. and then next thing its all over the net.” (Bow Wow’s Twitter)

Actress Taraji P. Henson displayed her followers’ reactions to the movie.

The film leaked across the Internet in early December 2009.

Earlier today (December 13), the movie which Lil Wayne, Bow Wow and Forest Whitaker all star in – Hurricane Season leaked to the internet. Unfortunately the movie is going to straight to DVD and will not be in the theaters, but MWP has captured just Weezy’s and Bow Weezy’s parts in the film so you can all watch. (Lil Wayne HQ)
