Undefeated retired boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. has confirmed recent buzz about wanting to lace up his gloves once again to fight UFC champion Conor McGregor.

In Floyd’s opinion, the fight could really go down if both sides reach an amicable deal.

“It’s really not a rumor. The fight may happen. We really don’t know, as of right now. As of right now. But do I think the fight will happen? Absolutely. We’re the A-side, of course. It has to be a boxing match, because most fights that Conor McGregor won inside the Octagon, he was a stand-up guy. So I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be a tough fight for me. We really don’t know as of right now, but there’s been a lot of talk, and hopefully we can make the fight happen.” (Bad Left Hook)

Recently, McGregor’s team spoke out and shut down rumored death threats.

Media outlets in Ireland reported that McGregor hit a celebrity event in Dublin last week with two security guards in tow due to credible death threats that had been made against the UFC star. But Conor’s rep Audie Attar says it simply ain’t true — “Yes we have security, no not due to death threats.” “Security is in everyone’s best interest and for everyone’s safety.” (TMZ)

McGregor sparked headlines after displaying an interest to fight Mayweather on social media a few days prior.

Earlier this month, Mayweather called the potential bout a possibility but only for the right price.

‘Well, he already knows my number, I talked about that on the TV the other day. Every time I go out there and compete at the highest level you know my number is of course $100million (£69million) or better. ‘I feel that I can demand that because I’ve broken all records in the sport of boxing.’ (Daily Mail UK)
