Earlier in the week, Mayweather talked about possibly fighting UFC superstar Conor McGregor.

“I’m just a fighter at the end of the day – all you guys gotta do is just look at the numbers of boxing and look up the numbers of MMA. … Conor McGregor is the second biggest name in MMA. I’m not gonna sit right here and knock Conor McGregor. He went out there and done what he had to do. It’s obvious he’s done something right thus far to get to the point where he’s at, so I’m not here to badmouth him. And I’ve been off a couple years and I’m 40 years old now. I’m a lot older and he’s still in his 20s. I’m in my 40s now. So that could play a major key. And he’s a heavy hitter, so we’ll just see. Has he signed the contract yet? Absolutely not.” (TMZ Sports)

Last month, UFC president Dana White talked about Mayweather/McGregor lacing up.

Everyone can breathe a sigh of relief. In an interview with Yahoo Sports’ Chris Mannix, UFC president Dana White was asked if there was an update on negotiations for the superfight. “Well, Conor McGregor is having a baby right now,” White told Mannix. “After his girlfriend delivers their baby, we’ll start working on this deal.” (Yahoo! Sports)

Weeks prior, White talked about the inevitable bout going down.

“I do think it’s going to happen. I think it’s going to be a tough deal, because obviously, a lot of egos involved in this deal and a lot of people, so that always makes it tougher but on the flip side, there’s so much money involved, I just don’t see how it doesn’t happen – and it would be boxing. … Conor McGregor is huge. He’s in the prime of his career. Floyd is 40. Floyd has always had problems with southpaws. Conor is a southpaw, and Conor hits hard. When he hits people, they go. Floyd is definitely not knocking him out. That’s for sure. I’m not saying Conor would win this boxing match, but it sure makes it interesting.” (“Conan”)

  1. Floyd flexing! Very few PEOPLE can buy a NBA team he aint one! Maybe with some other investors he can

    • So a sit-down with one of the greatest ball-players of all-time, who happens to be a billionaire, to talk about Floyd buying a sports team isnt enough for you huh?

    • Sitting down and talking about something doesn’t mean it’s possible. Look at your average NBA team’s worth, then look at what Floyd has earned in total throughout his career. Even if he literally banked 99% of what he’s earned in 20 years, he still have to spend over half his total career earnings to be just a majority owner, at less than 50% personal ownership of a semi-cheap NBA franchise. Stop buying into theae celebs flexing.
