Retired boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. has added more fuel to the fire for a potential bout against UFC superstar Conor McGregor.
Floyd teased fans with a promotional advertisement featuring himself and McGregor on Instagram late Sunday (May 29).
Recently, G-Unit boss 50 Cent spoke out on Floyd likely coming out of his retirement.
“Floyd and I are really good friends, but we argue like regular people argue. The difference is when we have disputes, it winds up on CNN or Instagram. I can cuss him out, call him names, say whatever I want to him, but he’s my little brother. Every fighter says he’s going to retire—what’s left when you fight the biggest, most highly anticipated fight? But I do think he’ll fight again.” (Vanity Fair)
Earlier this month, Floyd discussed the possibility of lacing up again to fight McGregor.
“It’s really not a rumor. The fight may happen. We really don’t know, as of right now. As of right now. But do I think the fight will happen? Absolutely. We’re the A-side, of course. It has to be a boxing match, because most fights that Conor McGregor won inside the Octagon, he was a stand-up guy. So I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be a tough fight for me. We really don’t know as of right now, but there’s been a lot of talk, and hopefully we can make the fight happen.” (Bad Left Hook)
Conor sparked headlines after displaying an interest to fight Mayweather on social media in early May.
