Sports icon Floyd Mayweather Jr. isn’t ready to really soak in retirement just yet. The 41-year-old boxing champion has updated fans on where things stand with him and a highly-anticipated MMA fight.
This week, Money Mayweather talked about his mixed martial arts skills and also admitted the right price could make a UFC bout happen.
“I can wrestle,” Floyd says … “My wrestling game is not that bad. On a scale of 1 to 10, it’s probably a 7 and I think we could take it up to like a 9.” So, how much MONEY will it take to lock Floyd for an MMA fight, possibly with Conor McGregor? “It’s all about presenting the right numbers and of course, they gonna present the right numbers and we gonna make it happen.” (TMZ Sports)
A few weeks ago, MMA champion Conor McGregor went to his Instagram page and appeared to suggest Floyd would never fight in the UFC.
I am happy for Floyd and his recent announcement that he is out of these current fight negotiations. It is the reason I never seeked the rematch in the first place. I was happy for him in retirement. My game is a very unforgiving one. It is not like other games. I understand completely him staying retired. I will now carry on in my negotiations and see where it goes. Have a great retirement Junior. Now come here and give your old man a hug for old times sake. I'm proud of you son. Yours truly, Senior.
The 40-year-old retired boxing legend has been teasing fight fans in recent weeks with non too subtle suggestions that he is considering a foray into the Octagon, but his recent social media post may have graphically illustrated his intentions. The post leaves little to the imagination as it shows an image headlined “Certified Killa vs Certified B***h”, which depicts Mayweather inflicting horrific damage on his arch rival Conor McGregor in a fight that is clearly being conducted under MMA rules. A few nights prior, McGregor clowned Mayweather with a shot from their summer 2017 boxing fight.
