Retired boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. is inching closer to an octagon fight really going down. New reports claim Money Mayweather is training to go head-to-head in the UFC.
According to UFC superstar Tyron Woodley, he’s training Mayweather to get into MMA-shape.
Floyd Mayweather will start his MMA training with a bona fide UFC champ — with Tyron Woodley saying he’s spoken with TBE and has agreed to get him ready for his debut in the octagon. “Floyd Mayweather is interested in taking an MMA bout, maybe a few of ’em,” Woodley said on “The Hollywood Beatdown.” “So, who better than The Chosen One to teach him the ropes on how we get off the ropes and get in the cage!” (TMZ)
A few weeks ago, MMA champion Conor McGregor went to his Instagram page and appeared to suggest Floyd would never fight in the UFC.
Last month, Mayweather tossed up a fake pic of himself banging up McGregor MMA-style.
The 40-year-old retired boxing legend has been teasing fight fans in recent weeks with non too subtle suggestions that he is considering a foray into the Octagon, but his recent social media post may have graphically illustrated his intentions. The post leaves little to the imagination as it shows an image headlined “Certified Killa vs Certified B***h”, which depicts Mayweather inflicting horrific damage on his arch rival Conor McGregor in a fight that is clearly being conducted under MMA rules. A few nights prior, McGregor clowned Mayweather with a shot from their summer 2017 boxing fight.
