Rap veteran Flavor Flav is making headlines Thursday (May 21) following an arrest in Nevada for a driving under the influence charge.

According to reports, Flav’s excessive speeding in Las Vegas prompted law enforcement to pull him over early Thursday (May 21).

Rap star Flavor Flav was arrested on Thursday in Las Vegas on suspicion of driving under the influence, after he was pulled over for speeding and was found with marijuana and an open container of alcohol in his BMW, a Nevada state trooper said. Flavor Flav, who rose to fame in the 1980s as a rapper with the politically oriented group Public Enemy, was traveling 73 miles per hour in a 45-mile-per-hour zone on Interstate 15 when he was stopped shortly after midnight, said Nevada Highway Patrol spokesman Trooper Loy Hixson. In late 2013, Flavor broke sad news about his mother’s passing on social media.

“Hey everybody I just lost my mother Anna Drayton thismorning newyears eve she passed away and I’m gonna miss her. She lived good a good life,” Flav tweeted December 31, 2014.

Various musicians sent their condolences to Flav following the news.

Other condolences and tributes came from Salt-N-Pepa, Bootsy Collins and Full Force member Lou “Bowlegged Lou” George, who penned a heartfelt message on Facebook. “On behalf of Full Force, we would like to send prayers of condolences to our good friend William Drayton aka Flavor Flav & his family on the passing of his beloved mother Anna who passed on New Year’s Eve,” George wrote. “She was a wonderful & sweet person who is now up in heaven wearing Gods wings.
