Hours after a shooting rang out at a Ferguson, Missouri protest a year removed from the death of local teenager Michael Brown, new reports claim another rally is planned.

According to reports, there are plans for more rallies to go down following last night’s violence.

A new round of rallies was planned in and around Ferguson, Missouri, on Monday, hours after a man was critically wounded in a gun battle with police when peaceful protests to mark the fatal shooting a year ago of an unarmed black teenager by a white officer erupted into violence. (Reuters)

Initial reports claimed the Sunday (August 9) night victim shot at detectives.

A peaceful day of protest and remembrance dissolved into chaos late Sunday when a man fired multiple shots at four St. Louis County plainclothes detectives in an SUV. The detectives fired back and the shooter was struck, said county Police Chief Jon Belmar. He was in critical condition. Tyrone Harris identified the victim as his son, Tyrone Harris Jr., 18, of St. Louis. Harris said shortly after 3 a.m. that his son had just gotten out of surgery. (STL Today)

The victim’s father, Tyrone Harris, has also come forward to speak out.

He said his son graduated from Normandy High School and that he and Michael Brown Jr. “were real close.” “We think there’s a lot more to this than what’s being said,” Harris Sr. said. (STL Today)

Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch addressed the violent shootings Monday (August 10).

“The weekend’s events were peaceful and promoted a message of reconciliation and healing,” Ms. Lynch said in a statement. “But incidents of violence, such as we saw last night, are contrary to both that message, along with everything that all of us, including this group, have worked to achieve over the past year.” (NY Times)

  1. This reminds us of the nihilistic emptiness of misdirected and unfocused violence. Know who you’re killing, people. God wants you to take out the ones who threaten your children’s future and who take food out of their mouths. That pleases him. The only slaves in heaven are Nat Turner and Spartacus.

  2. Somebody tell me what he did to provoke the cops, b/c reports say he was charged with assaulting a few officers before being shot.

  3. Seems suspect that a friend of Mike Brown would bring a gun to a peace rally on the anniversary of his death ….. ijs

  4. Why would anyone feel bad for that piece of garbage mike brown? A guy who was willing to beat up an old man for some blunts. The worlds a better place without him
