Despite not initially including the late Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur, Joey Crack promised his top-five list changes on a day-by-day basis.

“That’s a hard question to answer,” Joe told DJ Vlad when asked who his top five favorite artists were. “I would say Big Pun, I would say KRS-One, umm, I would say Kanye West. Yeah, I would say Kanye West, umm, it changes every day. I can’t really answer that question you told me. I would go with Lil Wayne. That’s four. Then I like this combination, Dr. Dre and Snoop [Dogg] combination. If I could put them as one, that would be like, my top five and half. Big and Pac are up there too, a million percent but when you ask somebody who’s their top five, they gotta tell you who ‘their’ top five is. You can’t always say Big and Pac. We know they’re the greatest, we know they’re the best, we know all that. And listen, it changes every day, my favorite rappers of all-time and my favorite rappers now.” (Vlad TV)

Fat Joe associate Rick Ross also included Lil Wayne in his top five emcees list earlier this year.

“Over the history of time, I have a lot of different rappers for different reasons,” Ross said in an interview. “But I would say, in no particular order, Ice Cube, Big Daddy Kane, The Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, either [Lil Wayne] or Birdman could possibly make that list. There’s so many more people I love, back in the day, my love for A Tribe Called Quest, Q-Tip, JT Money, Trick Daddy as well is one of the early ones that inspired me. I draw inspiration from a lot of different artists, regardless of where you’re from.” (Real Talk NY)

Aside from issuing Wayne accolades, Joe recently visited the incarcerated rapper at Rikers Island in New York.

“Lil Wayne, it’s such a shame…He’s in great spirits. I love Lil Wayne; that’s like my little brother. He’s just the coolest dude on Earth. I tell you one thing, him not being high made me realize how much funnier he is. This guy has jokes. We were up in there for four hours, just telling jokes, dying laughing, falling on the floor…He’s a beautiful dude. He did what he did. He had a gun on him, but people don’t really know how much of a great father that he is, great of a person he is, a friend, a loyal dude. He’s charismatic. It’s just sad to see him over there like that, but I’m pretty sure he learned his lesson, and he’s gonna be focused.” (MTV)
