R&B singer Faith Evans has come forward to confirm reports that she was arrested over the weekend on a DUI charge in Los Angeles.
Writing via Twitter, Evans thanked her fans for their support and understanding.
“Hi Faithfuls…I am on the set of my new video for my single “Gone Already”. I’m sure by now most of you heard that I was detained on,” she tweeted early Monday (August 23) morning.
“suspicion of a DUI. After completing a full day of wardrobe prep I was stopped at a random checkpoint.”

Reports of her arrest hit the Internet Sunday morning.
According to law enforcement sources, the singer was stopped at a DUI checkpoint near the Marina Del Rey section of L.A. when officers detected alcohol. We’re told Evans was then arrested and booked on suspicion of DUI. It’s unknown, at this point, what Evans’ blood alcohol level was when police busted her. (TMZ)
Further reports suggested she posted bail and was later released.
Police said the 37-year-old showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol when she was pulled over at a checkpoint. The singer was held for four hours and released on bail pending formal charges. (BBC News)
Last March, Evans made headlines when her tax debt records landed online.
The IRS filed a $36,360 lien against Evans on March 4 with the New York City Register’s office. The IRS filed a $119,821 lien against Evans on Feb. 16 with the Los Angeles County Recorder of Deeds. The state of New Jersey filed a $204,000 lien against Evans on Oct. 30, 2008, with the New Jersey State Superior Court. (Detroit News)
