Check out what Pusha T did as a reaction to the controversial Michael Brown jury verdict right here…
G.O.O.D. Music rapper Pusha T recently revealed he pushed back a new Adidas sneakers launch in light of a not guilty Michael Brown verdict being announced in November.
“When the [Mike Brown] verdict came out, we were supposed to start the rollout for the shoe and I was like no, we just can’t start today,” Pusha T said. “Artists definitely should be speaking out about it.” (Forbes)
Pusha also discussed the political backdrop of his recently released “Lunch Money” song.
“So ‘America’s still abusing us’ comes from Eric Garner, Mike Brown, Trayvon Martin, Tamir [Rice]. Man, their injustice – it took too long for me to even come to a conclusion. It’s super tough, it’s disheartening and it’s hurtful.” “I don’t want anybody else to be a victim, because the justice doesn’t come quick enough for me,” Pusha T concluded. (Forbes)
Rap veteran Nas talked about the importance of educating youth face-to-face amid the widespread protests a few weeks ago.
“That’s just embarrassing. I’m one of the guys that’s out there saying, ‘Listen. It has to stop.’ It’s important that every time I see a black child I look him or her in the eyes and say, ‘This is your world. You’re a king or a queen.’ Everything else was telling them they were slaves. It’s important for them to know the history of black children doesn’t start in this great country.” (TIME)
