Put together in part by Hot 97, Cornerstone and Footlocker, the show was hosted by radio personality Peter Rosenberg prior to Fab being joined on-stage by Street Fam associate Paul Cain.

Fabolous’ one-night New York City showcase was a night to remember. From a live band consisting of a guitar player, guy on the keyboard, drums and Fab’s sidekick Paul Cain serving as a lyrical hype man, the rapper switched back-and-forth from slow cuts like “Into You” and “Baby Don’t Go” to more stellar records for the fellas a la “Keepin’ It Gangsta” and “Breathe.” Even though kids who purchased their pairs of Reeboks (which Fab rocked with his army fatigue shorts) may have gone with their parents, Fab showed no concerns with his verbal messages throughout the night: “New York City, what the f*ck is up man,” he asked the screaming crowd during his intro. “How y’all feel this evening? I don’t know what y’all think I came here to do, but I’ma do it.” (SOHH On The Scene)

Shortly after the event, Fab hit fans via Twitter to share his reaction to the set.

“I jus kilt the 1st show of the Reebok Concert Series..,” Fab wrote Monday night. “Thank u NYC 4 the support! If u was at the show let me know how it was! Niceee!!” (Fabolous’ Twitter)

Fab’s Reebok deal made headlines after he announced the move earlier this month.

Fabolous, in partnership with Cornerstone Promotion and Foot Locker, will kick-off the series as the first one hundred fans in each city will be able to “buy a pair, get a pair” — receiving a pair of tickets to a first-of-its-kind, exclusive, intimate Fabolous performance. Fabolous will personally meet with fans at Foot Locker locations throughout the US to promote Reebok’s Classic Remix footwear collection and the Classic Remix Concert Series. Cities include, New York City, New York (August 24, 2009), New Orleans, Louisiana (August 26, 2009), Miami, Florida (August 28, 2009), Houston, Texas (September 1, 2009), and Atlanta, Georgia (September 3, 2009). The rapper’s previous concert in Pennsylvania ended in gunfire with two victims being rushed to a hospital after receiving gun wounds.

A man and a woman were shot outside Crocodile Rock Cafe on Hamilton Street in downtown Allentown early this morning following a rap concert, according to city police. The shooting occurred in Crocodile Rock’s parking lot off S. Sixth Street around 2:30 a.m. and the two people who were shot were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest by ambulance, said Allentown Capt. Dean Schwartz. Schwartz said the investigation into the shooting continues. (Allentown Morning Call)
