Def Jam’s Fabolous has provided fans with an update on his long-awaited Jadakiss Freddy Vs. Jason collaborative album. Despite handfuls of setbacks, Loso believes the project will eventually reach retail outlets.
In a new interview, Fab explained the stakes of putting out a quality New York hip-hop album and getting clearance samples had delayed the massive music release.
“We just take our time because we want it to be right because of the magnitude of the project means for hip-hop and New York City hip-hop. Also, we have samples that need to be cleared. Even the licensing thing with using the names Freddy and Jason. In this generation, soon as you say a project is coming, the people want it right away. We try to give people a little bit of the process through social media and Instagram. We’ll show pictures of a studio session with producers like Just Blaze or Harry Fraud. I thought that would be cool because in the ‘90s there were big collaborations, but there was no social media. There’s no pictures of Biggie in the studio with Bone Thugs and that’s something you would’ve wanted to see. Now, we get to do that with social media.” (Complex)
Recently, Fab hinted at the possibility of their project arriving this month.
“Freddy Vs. Jason is on the way. We were trying to put it out next month in January, but we gonna drop something to go into it. I don’t want to give the whole thing, but we’re gonna drop something next month. Yeah, yeah. Low-key, Friday the 13th is next month. That’s all I’m gonna say. January 13 is a Friday. That’s all I’m gonna say. I know I shouldn’t have said that. That’s one of the projects that’s having a little sample [issue]. We might not be able to use – let me stop.” (Power 106 KMEL)
A few months back, Fab and Jada met up with Roc Nation about the higly-anticipated effort.
Last winter, Fab hinted at the project gearing up to come out soon.
