Former One Direction star Zayn Malik has stepped forward to address rumors claiming he stole the concept for his new Mind of Mine album cover from hip-hop heavyweight Lil Wayne‘s Tha Carter IV artwork.

Malik put a swift end to the comparison and claim on Twitter last night (February 18).

Speculation on Malik possibly jacking the cover art developed earlier in the week.

Both covers feature the musicians as toddlers, and that’s pretty much the only similarity. Another Twitter user noted that Lil Wayne wasn’t the first—nor the last—artist to use baby pictures for album covers. Drake used one, as well as The Notorious B.I.G. on his album, Ready to Die. (E! Online)

Zayn showed off his artwork on Instagram Thursday (February 18).

Coincidentally, Wayne and Zayn are expected to collaborate on a new tune.

Lil Wayne is set to appear on a remix of Zayn Malik’s ‘Pillow Talk’, after a clip of the New Orleans rapper laying a verse over the former One Direction star’s debut solo single was posted on Snapchat. (Fact Mag)

  1. The concept is not unique. Have you any idea how many artists have done this over the years? Who did Lil’ Wayne steal it from? Difficult to tell it’s been done so often. What makes it unique is that the pic is of Zayn as a child overlaid with HIS recent tats! All these kiddie fandoms are pathetic & petty!

Showing my age. Streisand did this in 1965.
