Pressured by paparazzi while out in Washington, DC, E-v-e set the record straight on what she said about Spears a few days ago.

Today in DC, our photog asked Eve about her comments, to which she replied, “I didn’t say anything about her singing. I said something about her British accent. We know it’s Britney Spears singing the song. I never said anything.” Here’s the thing though … if you listen to the song — which unfortunately we did — 90% of Britney’s appearance on the song is the British accent. She only “sings” for a few seconds at best. The whole song is just a giant, auto-tuned mess anyway … so really, who cares? (TMZ)

Last Thursday (February 14), the Philadelphia rapper hopped onto Twitter to speak out on published reports.

“Come on ya’ll My comment was not about Britney Spears NOT singing the song- clearly it’s her. It was about the British accent-pay attention,” she tweeted February 14th. (Eve’s Twitter)

Spears’ rep reached out to multiple media outlets to deny Eve’s misconstrued claim.

Well, Spears’ team isn’t letting the rapper get away with the allegation that easily. They responded to it on Thursday, shutting down the rapper’s off-the-cuff remark. “Completely not true,” her rep tells MTV News. “Britney absolutely sings on ‘Scream & Shout.'” (MTV)

Outside of the drama, the female emcee is currently preparing her long-awaited comeback album.

After several false starts, Eve is finally ready to make her return to music. The Philly raptress has announced an official release date for her first album in over a decade, Lip Lock. Eve’s fourth album will arrive on May 14 featuring appearances from Snoop Dogg, Pusha T, Juicy J, and Chrisette Michele, with production from Claude Kelly, Swizz Beatz, and more. “Lip Lock is the album I’ve always wanted to make and it represents me comingback into the game–lyrically locking it down. But I also like the title because it can be a play on words,” said Eve. (Rap-Up)
