[With her new "True Romance" album finally available this month, R&B veteran Estelle talks to SOHH about the process she goes through when piecing together new LPs.]
The album came together while I was in the middle of touring. I was singing “Thank You” and from our perspective, we often have to live and then you guys see the end result of what we’ve lived.
So if I’m singing “Thank You,” I had “All Of Me” out in 2012. So when I hit 2012 and singing “Thank You,” I was over it and I had to sing this record and bring out all of these feelings for like a good year.
I had to stop beating myself up. I wasn’t in that space anymore. I was right in-between promotion for the album and talking about how I really feel. So in 2012 and 2013, that’s when I started working on the album.
