Singer Erykah Badu has explained the motivation behind the nudity in her new “Window Seat” music video.

Writing via Twitter, Erykah revealed the video shoot took place in her hometown Dallas, Texas, where former President John F. Kennedy was assasinated.

“i was petrified while shooting this video … but liberation began to set in .i conquered many fears in that few moments . i am greatful,” she wrote Saturday (March 27) evening. “we are ALL guilty of groupthink we have all been VICTIMS of groupthink @ShugaAnnSpyce no closed set . no actors . everything was real . window seat video notes: had intended to direct this vid alone. after working w/ coodie and chike and bouncing thoughts i asked them to join RT @TravlrStone: @fatbellybella “Window Seat” was an unbelievable moment in vulnerability and liberation. The video began to circulate online through various music blogs yesterday.

Erykah Badu’s official video for “Window Seat” is finally here. And homegirl strips down to nothing. And still kept it creative. Her album leaked as well and folks are loving it. Check out the vid. You feelin’ it? (The YBF)

In the opening shot, Badu credits rockers Matt & Kim for motivating the video’s nude content.

Matt and Kim naked in ‘Lessons Learned’ music video. Nothing like some good old fashioned streaking in Times Square. You go Matt and Kim! Don’t let the man get you down! Even when you’re being pummeled by the man. I wonder what their lessons they learned from making “Lessons Learned”? Possibly, wait for a warmer day to streak? Make sure to watch out for cops instead of looking up at tall buildings? Or that people in NY are surprisingly non-chalant to both streaking and police arresting people? (Beat Crave)

The singer plans to continue releasing new music and drop her new album, New Amerykah Part Two, next week.

“The Internet has afforded us with a way to not limit ourselves to the album project,” Badu told Billboard recently. “There are so many ways to put out music now without having it just being a part of an album.” A number of websites will premiere each version of “Jump” exclusively throughout the month of March. Erykah Badu’s anticipated album, “New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh,” is due in stores and at digital retail March 30. (Singers Room)
