Fox’s “Empire” TV series is still winning the fight but things keep getting ugly. This week, the must-watch show beat its competition but suffered a series low in ratings.

According to reports, just over six million people tuned into this week’s “Empire” return.

“Empire” aired its first new episode in two weeks on Wednesday night, with the Fox music drama returning at a new series low, according to Nielsen data. Nevertheless, it was still the top-rated show of the night in adults 18-49. “Empire” averaged a 2.1 rating and 6.2 million viewers, down from the previous series low on April 5 (2.2, 6.4 million). Prior to its two-week break, “Empire” had bounced back with strong ratings.

“Empire” ticked up in both key measures this week, with the Fox show bouncing back from last week’s series low. The music industry drama averaged a 2.3 rating in adults 18-49 and 6.6 million viewers, up from a 2.2 and 6.4 million last week. It was again the top-rated show of the night, as well as one of the few new broadcast programs to air. (Variety)

A few weeks ago, “Empire” suffered a slight blow in overall ratings.

Still the highest-rated show of the night (though by thinner margins than usual), Fox’s hip-hop drama was down 14% from last week’s winter break return to hit a series low. For a declining blockbuster like Empire, which has seen more than a few lows in its current third season, to put blame on its lead-in is thin gruel; the fact is the second week of Shots Fired (1.0/4) saw the limited series go down just a tenth from its March 22 debut. 1. Too much homosexuality with black men I’ll give it another year if they don’t change basically too much homosexuality.

    • That’s not an excuse, it’s an explanation. If you lose much of your audience, it’s not like people are just waiting around to come back. The damage was already done. The audience they lost wouldn’t know if they minimized the homosexuality because…they already stopped watching, genius.

  2. Empire is a great show and yes I agree with original music
Rumor Willis is a plus and her singing is phenomenal. Kudos to Fox for her addition. #empirefan4life And Lucious and Cookie have a vicious chemistry! Love it!

  3. OD Homo 2 much waaaaaay 2 much. Every time its a Jamal scene. Just terrible just terrible
