Reason 1: The Hope
I think the “Empire” soundtrack is hope. If you listen to the record “Shine On Me” that me and Jussie Smollett did, that song is just about overcoming any particular obstacle and just letting you know that nothing lasts forever. Everything will run its course and I think that’s what me and Jussie tried to portray very much through that record. It was actually written by Ne-Yo and myself. Just based off our storyline, we’re both in situations that’s like the worst possible thing that could happen. So I think eventually we can all overcome anything.
Reason 2: The Motivation
I think the “Empire” soundtrack is motivation. This is good music. I think overall this is just a good time. No matter what goes on, we make the best of everything and every situation. The songs that are on our album, they’re great songs. You can dance to every one of them and they give you that feel good vibe.
Reason 3: The Love
I think the “Empire” soundtrack is love and a great time. It’s just overall good music. It’s different. I think I’m definitely a unique piece of the album. Everything with me on the album, from my voice to the style of rapping, the rawness and authenticity, we don’t have that right now in a female artist.
Reason 4: The Difference
What we’re doing at Empire is something that’s different and not being done in music right now.
Reason 5: The Terrence Howard Factor
You have Terrence Howard rapping on here. Terence is a real musician. He’s a true musician. I love him. His sound is very unique as well. He’s very different and I haven’t heard anyone who sounds like him. No one.
