In the series premiere of Empire, we learn Cookie gets out of jail early on good behavior. Near the very end of episode 2, we discover she was released early in exchange for her grand jury testimony.

REAL LIFE

In 2008, rap superstar T.I. was sentenced to 366 days in prison after working out a plea deal after being arrested at the BET Hip-Hop Awards on felony gun possession charges.

When T.I.’s plea deal was first announced, the entire hip-hop world wondered how a previously convicted felon attempting to purchase heavy artillery could get away with a simple prison bid. Even 50 Cent hinted that T.I. possibly “snitched” to avoid serious time behind bars.
