Based on one-day estimates, Em’s new album will reach platinum status after just 14 days in stores.

Eminem will easily hold onto the #1 spot next Tuesday, as the album experiences far less decay than the typical high-volume, second-week decline, with a likely fall-off of just around 55%. Shady will lead as many as six UMG titles into the Top 10–a nice housewarming present for incoming co-CEO Lucian Grainge. That said, it’s always difficult to know how things will trend during a holiday weekend, however, especially one that most people spend outside. With that caveat, here’s how things are trending going into the long weekend: Eminem (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) 320-340k Drake (Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Motown) 115-125k * The-Dream (Def Jam/IDJ) 55-60k (HITS Daily Double)

Last week, Em’s album debuted on the charts with over 744,000 copies.

Grammy-winning rapper Eminem’s Recovery debuted on the charts this week landing at No. 1. According to Nielsen SoundScan, Slim Shady’s new album has sold 744,400 units after a week in stores. The album is the highest-selling debut since 2008. (SOHH Sales Wrap)

In a recent interview with Billboard, Em said he was unfazed by first-week sales.

“I don’t think I’ve actually stopped to think about it,” Eminem said referencing being named artist of the decade. “I never thought that my life would amount to this. But to be able to sit back and digest it is so strange to me, because I still feel so regular. I don’t understand what people think the big deal is about me. It’s a very strange relationship that I have with fame…Honestly, as long as people enjoy the music, that means the most to me. I could sell 80 million records in the first week, and if my peers or fans of real hip-hop didn’t like it, it really wouldn’t mean anything.” (Rap Radar)

Last month, Fat Joe gave his opinion of Em’s latest effort.

“That sh*t’s crazy,” Joe said in an interview. “That sh*t with him and [Lil] Wayne, [track] number two [‘Talkin’ 2 Myself’]. All that sh*t, man. That n*gga spittin’. Hard…I thought I wasn’t gonna like it, cause n*ggas was sayin’, Yo, it’s rock, and this and that,’ but that sh*t was hard. I was expecting just more regular hip-hop type sh*t. You know what I’m sayin’? It was more like Just Blaze-[produced] rock sh*t…I like that sh*t. A lot. I can’t lie to you…I think he’s back to where he once was…For real. I think lyrically, he’s back to where he was. That’s what I got from the album.” (XXL Mag)
