Grammy-winning rapper Eminem didn’t cost himself anything by putting out his new Kamikaze album last week with zip-zero promotion. New reports claim the surprise LP is expected to demolish its retail competition.

According to new reports, Em’s latest solo effort could ultimately have one of the biggest opening weeks of all 2018 studio releases.

Industry forecasters suggest the effort — which was released without warning on Aug. 31 via Shady/Aftermath/Interscope Records — may bow with over 360,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Sept. 6. That sum would land Kamikaze the fifth-biggest week of 2018 for an album, trailing only the debut weeks of Drake’s Scorpion (732,000 units; according to Nielsen Music), Travis Scott’s Astroworld (537,000), Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys (461,000) and J. Cole’s KOD (397,000). (Billboard)

Initial estimates had Em’s new LP easily selling over 200,000 copies.

At the point the set looks like a lock for 200k+. Will it zoom past the first-week flight of Revival, which logged 267k on its maiden voyage last December? At Apple Music, Em has the Top 3 tracks (“The Ringer, “Lucky You” f/Joyner Lucas and “Greatest”), eight of the Top 10 and 13 of the Top 20; Kamikaze is also, unsurprisingly, the top album. At iTunes he has the #1 album, three of the Top 4 and four in the Top 10. At Spotify U.S., he also has the Top 3, six of the Top 10 and 13 of the Top 20. He has 3 of the Top 4 on Spotify’s Global chart. (HITS Daily Double)

This week, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James hyped up the LP’s greatness.

G-Unit‘s 50 Cent and Tony Yayo have both saluted Em’s new LP.
