Grammy-winning rapper Eminem is going to become a part of history after reportedly agreeing to take part in the first-ever YouTube Music Awards this fall.
According to reports, Slim Shady will grace a speculated star-studded stage for the video-sharing site’s ceremony.
The popular online video giant is launching its first YouTube Music Awards, an ambitious 90-minute effort that will take place live in New York City’s Pier 36 on Nov. 3, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Filmmaker Spike Jonze, who has directed music videos for Beastie Boys and Weezer, has been tapped as creative director, while Jason Schwartzman will host the 90-minute event, presented in partnership with Kia and live-streamed across the world. Top-tier talent like Eminem, Lady Gaga and indie favorite Arcade Fire are on the bill as performers, along with YouTube breakouts Lindsey Stirling and CDZA. (The Hollywood Reporter)
Potential viewers are going to have to wait until later this month before finding out what entertainers have been nominated.
Nominations for the YouTube Music Awards will be announced Oct. 17, based on the videos that the users watched and shared in the the past year. Categories have not yet been announced, but data-driven categories such as fastest-growing song are expected. Judging will take place as YouTube users determine the songs and artists who will be honored by sharing the content through social media. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Slim Shady confirmed the big news with a statement on his unexpected power move last month.
“The energy and intensity of ‘Survival’ really matches Call of Duty: Ghosts. I’m excited to continue to be a part of the franchise.” said Eminem, whose “Survival” track was featured in the game’s multiplayer reveal trailer. Later this month, a music video trailer featuring the song and Ghosts’ gameplay will debut. “Call of Duty is the ultimate adrenaline rush. It’s the intensity and heart-pounding excitement you feel as the action unfolds. And Eminem embodies this same spirit and captures this in his music,” said Activision CMO Tim Ellis. (Game Zone)
