Grammy-winning performers Eminem and Rihanna lived up to the hype last night (April 13) after coming through to the MTV Movie Awards for their scheduled "Monster" set.
Despite a few technical issues, Em and RiRi delivered a high-energy performance Sunday evening in Los Angeles.
Introduced by Orlando Bloom, Rihanna entered the stage first, opening with stunning vocals as she as she bounded around the stage in an eye-wateringly tiny white minidress and a sporty padded baseball jacket. The 26-year-old singer was joined by the rapper shortly afterwards, who mirrored her street style in a khaki baseball jacket, baggy charcoal jeans and a monochrome motif tee. Performing alongside a full backing band, the pair managed to overcome technical faults to perform a crowd-pleasing rendition of their hit single for the first time on live television, which had the entire audience on their feet. Prior to last night, the performances were supposed to be their first at the annual awards show in five years.
Eminem and Rihanna are bringing “The Monster” to the 2014 MTV Movie Awards. The powerhouse duo is set to take the stage for the first performance of their No. 1 hit. Em and RiRi’s joint set will air live from Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater L.A. LIVE on Sunday, April 13, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The performance marks a return to the Movie Awards stage for both artists. RiRi confirmed her involvement and gushed over linking up with Marshall Mathers in February for their upcoming three-city tour.

In the wake of their chart-topping hit “The Monster” from The Marshall Mathers LP 2, Eminem and Rihanna are heading on tour together. The Monster Tour stadium shows kick off this summer, with stops planned for New York, Los Angeles and Detroit. “There are some shows coming up with Rihanna,” Eminem said in an exclusive interview in the latest issue of XXL Magazine. “It’s a three-city tour: New York, L.A. and Detroit coming in August.
