Grammy-winning rapper Eminem is giving fans a chance to celebrate his now-iconic The Marshall Mathers LP album’s 16th anniversary this week.
Em reflected on today’s significance by announcing the release of Marshal Mathers LP collectables on Instagram Monday (May 23).
Some of the collectables Em is selling includes bricks from his childhood home.
The 700 bricks come with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity with Eminem’s handwritten signature. Each brick also comes with a display stand, a plaque, and a cassette reissue of the album. The stand-alone cassette, plus dog tags made from salvaged wood from his childhood home, are also available. A portion of the proceeds are going to the Marshall Mathers Foundation, which provides funds for organizations working with at-risk youth in Eminem’s home state of Michigan and throughout the U.S. (Pitchfork)
A few days ago, Em hinted at possibly having new music coming out.
Back in November, Em and Shady Records partnered up with lyrics-decoding company Genius.
Genius will also serve as the official lyrics engine for Eminem.com and all of Shady Records’ online properties. “Coming up we would always obsess over the lyrics from our favorite MCs. Picking everything apart, trying to get into their heads,” Eminem said in a statement. “I still do that today and Genius helps to make it a worldwide conversation. Pretty amazing to me.” (Billboard)
