Grammy-winning rapper Eminem recently talked about the trendiness of social media and why Jay Z has stayed relevant over the past few decades.

When asked if he uses Google to search his name, Em dished out his issues with getting online.

Once I’m on the computer, it’s over, because I’m tempted to look at everything. I went on the computer recently and got on one site, read five comments and was like, “Man.” I have friends that do it — rapper friends. I’m like, “I don’t know how you do that.” Because you end up wanting to fight someone, kill them, or kill yourself — usually all three at once. … I know there are a lot of Twitter beefs. People used to just make songs. But it is what it is. The world’s forever changing, and you’ve just gotta adapt and evolve.” (New York Times)

Em praised music mogul Jay Z for having a respectable business career.

“For sure, I don’t want to be that guy. You take the good with the bad. It’s one of the things I really respect about Jay [Z]. In my opinion, he’s never had a lull in his career. It’s always just been so consistent; he’s so in tune with what is current and what’s cool to do.” (New York Times)

Jay Z’s new Tidal music streaming service recently launched a family plan.

Jay Z’s hyped music streaming service Tidal, which focuses on high-fidelity streams and exclusive content – including most recently, Prince tunes – is attempting to catch up to the competition today with the debut of its own “Family” plan. The plan, which is comparable to that from Spotify, lets additional family members sign up and receive 50 percent off their subscription. This discount is applicable whether they’re signing up for the $9.99 per month Premium plan or the $19.99 per month HiFi streaming option. (Tech Crunch)

Despite the new business strategy, Jay’s Tidal still faces stiff competition from Apple Music.

It’s good to see Tidal offering the option of simplifying payments for families, but Apple (and even Rhapsody, for that matter) have shown that it’s possible to make these plans way more straightforward. It’s hard to see this really moving the needle much in Tidal’s favor, so the company will need to keep leaning on exclusives and its famous lineup of overseers to do that. (The Verge)
