Slim Shady’s new “Survival” track surfaced online Wednesday (August 14).

Please pardon the interruption but something other than Kendrick Lamar is happening in hip-hop. Today, we get to finally hear some new music from Eminem. It’s a song called “Survival” and it’s featured as background music for the new Call of Duty: Ghosts trailer. Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg announced earlier this year that the Detroit rapper would be releasing an album in 2013, and after receiving “Survival,” it’s clear they’re on schedule to execute that plan. There’s no word yet on whether “Survival” will be included on his upcoming album. However, this is a similar move he made back in 2010 with Recovery, where the Pink-assisted “Won’t Back Down” was used for the Call of Duty: Black Ops trailer. Either way, get hyped. (Complex)

Last week, Em owned the Empire State’s night life with a special performance that included songs like “Stan,” “Lose Yourself” and “Cleaning Out My Closet” for G-Shock.

Eminem has remained out of the spotlight, but he returned to the stage to celebrate G-Shock’s 30th anniversary at the “Shock the World” event in New York on Wednesday. The company unveiled its latest lineup of timepieces for the press earlier in the evening followed by a concert from the Detroit rapper. Big Sean, Melanie Fiona, Fabolous, Estelle, and Busta Rhymes were among the stars who gathered at Basketball City at Pier 36, while DJ Mick Boogie and Yelawolf warmed up the crowd. Wearing a green hat, hoodie, and shorts, Slim Shady marched out to “Won’t Back Down,” serving up his biggest hits including “Cleaning Out My Closet,” “Love the Way You Lie,” “Stan,” “Lighters,” and “Lose Yourself.” (Rap-Up)

Shady Records affiliate Alchemist recently spoke on Em’s return to consistent music-making.

“That’s my boss. I deejay for him and I’m not at liberty to speak on much, but you know his caliber and what he does. Clearly going to further territories. I think what you would expect, especially after the last go-round. … He was just getting his feet back on Relapse and then Recovery just came with the smash hits and everything and I think now — he’s Eminem.” (MTV)

Recently, D12’s Mr. Porter said Slim’s next album should arrive by this fall.

Shady’s fresh beats were “supposed to” drop the day after Memorial Day (May 28)… well, that didn’t happen. Now rumors suggest that the release date is July 2. But according to former D12 rapper and Eminem’s hype man Mr. Porter, it’s more likely that the record will hit air-wives sometime in the fall (or late summer). (M Starz)
