[With Hollywood movies known for dominating summers and shows like “Power” and “Empire” proving television’s importance, “Drunk Wedding” director Nick Weiss talks to SOHH about both entertainment forms.]
I love film and TV. I’m probably watching more TV now because I have two really small kids and it’s hard as h*ll to make it out of my home and head to the movie theater. I have parental responsibilities but at the moment, I’m watching a bit more TV.
But growing up, I watched a ton of movies and I love both things. I love in film, that communal experience of going to a movie, especially a comedy. I loved that experience of going to a movie theater with a bunch of people and laughing your a** off.
I think that’s amazing and it has a real power to it. And then one of the most amazing parts of this process [of making “Drunk Wedding”] was screening the movie for people and seeing it make a room of people laugh hard.
That’s a huge deal.
With TV offers, you can spend such a longer amount of time with these characters. You’re creating people that we can really get to know and explore over a long period of time.
There’s amazing work happening on both parts.
