West Coast rapper YG knows it’s going to take more than his new “One Time Comin'” single to keep fans’ attention on him. The hip-hop star has announced plans to drop a new mixtape.
The California native jumped on Twitter Tuesday (October 25) to tease his 1.11 million followers about a new underground effort coming out.
Hours prior, YG unleashed his thought-provoking “One Time Comin'” single.
The song addresses racial discrimination and police violence, a fact that is made clear by the song’s cover art, which says that the tune is “in loving memory of the victims of police brutality.” This is far from the only time YG has made a political stance recently. (Complex)
Last night (October 24), YG hinted at a new song arriving.
Outside of this, the California rapper put together a Pandora music playlist for the upcoming Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare video game.
YG is one of several celebrity fans within the ranks of the war game’s franchise, along with others including Cara Delevingne, Marshawn Lynch and Snoop Dogg. In a recording promoting the mix tape, YG explained why he likes the game and how he picked the songs. “The songs I picked on my playlist either turn me up, put me in the mood, or have me thinking about life and my next move,” he says. “And most importantly, they’ve moved the culture, or are moving the culture right now as we speak.” (Ad Week)
