OVO Sound boss Drake’s Scorpion has no plans of losing the top spot. The hit album has remained at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

After three straight weeks, Drizzy’s LP is still sitting atop its competition.

For a third straight week, Drake’s Scorpion holds at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The set earned 260,000 equivalent album units in the week ending July 19, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 29,000 were in traditional album sales. Wiz Khalifa’s Rolling Papers 2 is the only debut in the top 10, as it starts at No. 2 with 80,000 units. (Billboard)

Earlier this month, Drake’s “Fire In The Booth” freestyle video went viral.

In a recent interview, Cash Money boss Birdman called Drake the most consistent protégé on his roster.

“He got so many songs. He a workaholic,” said the YMCMB boss. “Drake kept this shit alive for the last four-five years consistently. Nicki do her thing also, but he’s been the most consistent Young Money/Cash Money artist.” Birdman went on to say that Drake manifested this type of success with hard work. “He talked about this sh*t and turned it into reality,” he added. “He never lived life like he’s living it. He comes from the trap, from the slums, and he ain’t ever had a sweet life. Now, he’s making a hell of a life for himself. I have to say that he’s on a high horse to be living life like this.” (Rap-Up)

A couple weeks ago, media insiders speculated Drake might break away from Cash Money and start a new deal with Universal Music Group.

The smart money says that the only deal Drake is out of is his longtime pact with Cash Money, and that he already has a new arrangement in place with Uni. While nothing official has been announced, it’s likely that Drake has been given his own label with fabulous terms and amazing splits. As usual, only Drake knows when he’ll be dropping his next set, but typically contracts like the expiring one with Cash Money contain clauses concerning conflicting release date. Theoretically, a new Drake set could mitigate the success of the current project, but you never know what kinds of deals can be worked out when you’re on fire like the Canuck wonder.
