OVO Sound boss Drake used the power of social media to land one of his More Life playlist’s biggest standout tracks. Singer Jorja Smith has dished on making a name for herself on their “Get It Together” single.
According to Smith, the 6 God actually hit her up for the collabo through Instagram.
“He DM’ed me on Instagram,” Jorja revealed. “When I first heard it, I really liked it, but I was like, ‘I don’t know if I really want to do it,’ because I haven’t written it and it doesn’t relate to me. Then, sh*t happened in my life with boys and stuff and I was like this song is amazing and is actually what I’m going through. So I was like, ‘Hey Drake, is there still a space for me?’ And he said yes. So I recorded it in London and sent it over. He was like, ‘Sick.’ … I’m honestly so grateful for Drake letting me be a part of that album because I got opened up to so many people. I guess you would have found out about me eventually, but it was a bit of a push. It was just amazing for it to happen.” (Billboard)
Recently, the 6 God lit up social media to announce new music’s on deck.
At last month’s OVO Fest, Drake promised to bless fans with a joint The Weeknd album.
“I want you to understand what this is. First of all, I don’t want to do this to you on stage, but I feel like that OVOXO project has to happen at some point. I just want to say that.”
