According to reports, cops responded to a call Tuesday (July 5) about Sterling selling CDs in front of a convenience store and confronted him upon arrival.
Police fatally shot a black father of five outside a convenience store in Louisiana in a chilling incident apparently captured on cellphone video. Graphic footage circulating online which was filmed by a witness appears to show Alton Sterling, 37, being shot as he is pinned to the ground. It has sparked outrage and protests. (NBC News)
After pinning Sterling down, one of the officers ultimately ended his life with multiple gun shots.
The man struggles and one of the officers pins his arm to the floor with his knee and then appears to pull out his gun and point it at the man. A voice is heard shouting: “He’s got a gun. Gun.” Then shots ring out and the camera moves away. A woman – apparently a bystander – can be heard saying “Oh my God”, followed by another asking: “They shot him?” The first woman replies: “Yes.” (BBC)
