OVO Sound leader Drake has social media buzzing after allegedly taking a shot at fellow Canadian hip-hop artist Tory Lanez on the opening night of his Summer Sixteen tour.

According to reports, Drizzy went directly at Lanez’s neck with a revamped performance of his “Summer Sixteen” song.

While performing opening song “Summer Sixteen” on Wednesday night, Drizzy slightly changed the opening of the second verse — already long-assumed to be a shot at Lanez — to directly reference Lanez’ recent remix of Drake’s song “Controlla.” In addition, some have accused Lanez of adding a reggae twist to his new songs after the success of Drake’s “One Dance” and “Controlla,” which both had a similar influence. Lane’s recent A$AP Ferg-assisted “Line Up The Flex” song reportedly features him getting at Drake.

“F*ck them ni**as that was hating on me, even though a ni**a used to tell ’em all,” Tory raps. “I was never ever gang, gang, gang, gang, I was One Umbrella Mob.” This is a direct response to Drake’s “Summer Sixteen” line that features a similar lyric: “You was never gang, gang, gang, gang, you was never one of us / Had us fooled for a minute there, now we done all grow’d up.” (Rap-Up)

Recently, Lanez spoke on Drake keeping an eye on his growing movement.

“I’m just a young kid. Me personally, I don’t think I’m even hot enough to be getting dissed. But hey, at the end of the day he must look at me as a threat. The music is appealing and I don’t know why he did it, but more blessings to him.” (Shade 45)

Past reports suggested Drake knowingly went at Lanez with “Summer Sixteen.”

Tory Lanez and Drake have a strange relationship. Late last year, Tory dropped a mixtape called The New Toronto that seemed to poise him as the next star from T. Dot. Drake must have heard about the news, because months later he referenced the mixtape on his “Summer Sixteen” single: “All you boys in the new Toronto want to be me a little,” he says at the start of his second verse.
