OVO Sound boss Drake is out here making sure everyone knows he’s Team Nike. The 6 God has hit up social media to flex his love for the iconic sports apparel brand.
Sunday night, Drizzy went to Instagram to show off a fresh black Nike sneaker.
On rap star Travis Scott‘s new “Sicko Mode” record, the 6 God makes a direct reference to Nike and Adidas.
Drake’s rumored jump from Nike to adidas was at the center of his recent beef with Pusha-T, but failed to materialize. During the Toronto rapper’s appearance on Travis Scott’s “SICKO MODE,” he seems to reference sticking with Jordan brand. The three-part ASTROWORLD track is produced by Hit-Boy, OZ, Tay Keith, and CuBeatz. Shortly after the second beat switch, Drake appears to allude to both apparel brands. Genius contributor J-Bankrollz breaks it down in an annotation: “Jesus Christ (yeah), checks over stripes (yeah) That’s what I like (yeah), that’s what we like (yeah)” (Genius)
On Travis Scott’s previously released “Ghostface Killers” anthem, he gives Nike the edge over Adidas with a similar reference.
“Please need the energy, only got a night, yeah (it’s lit)/Nike boys, we don’t do three stripes (yeah)/I’m living for my niggas that do life, yeah” (“Ghostface Killers”)
Back in May, NBA icon Michael Jordan‘s son trolled Drake over his rumored pending Adidas contract.
And you’re now stuck in Adidas Kicks… FOREVER *Cardi B voice*🤭🙊 https://t.co/X6pW09Kzl6
