OVO Sound boss Drake is going to have to settle for second-best. The hip-hop veteran has reportedly been replaced as the most-streamed global Spotify musician.
According to Spotify, Latin crooner J Balvin now holds the title as the biggest artist on Spotify.
Balvin is the most streamed artist worldwide on Spotify. The digital platform made the official announcement on Monday morning (June 25). The 33-year-old singer reached the milestone after surpassing the mark of 48 million monthly listeners, overtaking Drake for the worldwide No. 1 spot. Last summer, Balvin’s single “Mi Gente” was the first Latin song sung completely in Spanish to make it to No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Top 50 Chart. (Billboard)
Last night, Balvin even went to Instagram to celebrate his major achievement.
Despite J’s achievement, Drake’s highly-anticipated Scorpion album could ultimately spark massive streams.
Last week, Drake went to his Instagram Story with a subliminal message about what fans should expect when his new solo album drops.
