Mr. Drizzy dropped his unexpected “Draft Day” to the masses early Wednesday (April 2).

The Canadian rapper gives shout-outs for soon-to-turn-pro quarterback (and good buddy) Johnny Manziel, NBA star-in-the-waiting Andrew Wiggins, actor Jennifer Lawrence (“You could really get it”) and there’s a namecheck for Chance The Rapper. Drake’s track samples Lauryn Hill’s 1998 “Doo-Wop (That Thing)” — no mean feat considering Kanye West couldn’t get a sample cleared from the Fugees singer back in 2004. (Billboard)

While he does not name-drop Jay, Drizzy clearly speaks on being singled out with his new anthem.

Drake unveiled a new song called ‘Draft Day’ this week, with fans speculating that the lyrics relate to Jay-Z’s recent freestyle comments. “I heard they talking crazy, I was out of town. You know they love to pop all that s**t when I’m not around,” Drake’s lyrics read. “But when I’m here, psst, not a sound.” (Capital FM)

Reacting to Jigga going at Drizzy’s neck on Jay Electronica‘s new “We Made It” remix, G-Unit leader 50 Cent recently said their feud was far from over.

“I think it’s just getting started because we didn’t actually hear any verses or rap from Drake,” Fif said in an interview. “But you know what? It’s interesting. I think you’re supposed to rap about things that are in your actual life. But those are laws that were a part of our culture when I actually came in and fell in love with it. But it’s old school.” (“Russ Parr Morning Show”)

Jigga took direct aim at Drizzy and defended his knack for rhyming about high-profile art on a new “We Made It” remix.

Hov takes the opportunity to stunt on his haters with a killer verse. “Sorry Mr. Drizzy for so much art talk / Silly me rapping about sh*t that I really bought / While these rappers rap about guns they ain’t shot and a bunch of other silly sh*t that they ain’t got / I’m on my Lupita Nyong’o / Stuntin’ on stage after 12 Years a Slave,” he boasts.
