Drake Helps Close Out Coachella W/ Surprise Performance [Video]

Young Money's Drake came to the rescue Sunday (April 13) night for R&B singer Jhené Aiko's Coachella music festival set and helped deliver a memorable performance.

According to reports, Aiko surprised fans with Drizzy and fellow hip-hop artist Childish Gambino.

The petite singer (soon to be a huge star) performed for the first time at Coachella festival on April 13th, during the third and last of live music. Fans that stayed put for Jhené’s late-night concert were served with a couple of surprises. First, while opening with “Bed Peace”, rapper Childish Gambino appeared on stage to help the 26-year-old with their “Sail Out” collaboration. Later on her set, Jhené brought her ‘musical soulmate’ Drake to perform the Noah “40” Shebib-produced “From Time”, their duet on the Canadian rapper’s latest album “Nothing Was The Same”. Recently, producer Noah “40” Shebib likened Aiko’s sound to late singer Aaliyah.

Noah “40? Shebib agrees that Jhene Aiko is Drake’s “musical soulmate”, and even went as far as to compare the “From Time” vocalist to Aaliyah. “She has a very beautiful, very unique voice,” complimented the Nothing Was The Same producer. “She’s not a big powerhouse Beyoncé vocalist but she has something like Aaliyah. She has a tone that’s beautiful, recognizable and very much her.” (XXL Mag)

When asked about her professional bond to Drake, Aiko recently proclaimed they were musical soulmates.

Jhené Aiko has found her match in Drake. During Power 106?s “Valentine’s Crush” concert in L.A., the “Bed Peace” singer opened up about her connection with the Canadian rapper, who she collaborated and toured with last year. “I think that he is probably like my musical soulmate,” she told Rap-Up TV. “I just feel like our voices compliment each other, our writing styles, all of that.” Last month, Jhené joined Drake while performing “From Time” on “SNL.” “I’m not really used to cameras yet and TV performance-type things, so I was just like super nervous,” she admitted. “I think it came out good.” (Rap-Up)

In February, Aiko resorted to her Twitter page and informed the world she was not expecting kids anytime soon after mounted Drizzy romance rumors.
