Details of Drizzy’s legal woe surfaced online early Thursday (April 17).

Drake cheated and lied on his latest album — shamelessly stealing a jazz musician’s lyrics and then lying on the album that he got permission — so claims the jazz musician’s people. The song in question is “Pound Cake/Paris Morton Music 2.” The song begins with a 35 second monologue from a 1982 song — “Jimmy Smith Rap” — recorded by jazz musician Jimmy Smith. According to a new lawsuit — obtained by TMZ — Drake never got permission to use the clip. Even worse, represented in the liner notes that the clip was properly licensed. (TMZ)

Not only concerned with Drizzy, the rapper’s Cash Money Records label has also been targeted.

Jimmy’s dead, but his Estate insists in the lawsuit NO permission was given nor did anyone ask for it. The Estate is going after Drake, Cash Money Records and a bunch of others … gunning for more than $300K. (TMZ)

Aside from the legal drama, Drake recently came through for terminal 15-year-old Kennedy Brown‘s surprise prom party.

A young girl is in a serious battle with cancer. Her classmates were so moved by her courage, they made sure she got the prom every teenage girl deserves. On Saturday, Drake himself made that dream come true, in a personal visit with Kennedy, that left the courageous young girl with a smile that couldn’t be shaken off her beautiful face. (ABC Local)

Prior to the Drizzy surprise, classmates looked out for Brown with a handful of celebratory events.

Kennedy Brown is a 15-year-old freshman at Carnegie Vanguard who has been battling brain cancer for over two years. When an inoperable regrowth of her brain tumor forced Kennedy to stop attending school, her friends stepped in to make sure she experienced every high school memory in one day. That day was Monday, just barely 48 hours after planning began during a Friday brainstorming session among Kennedy’s friends. (ABC News)
