Drizzy noted his local roots and a will to help the team reach new heights for fueling a need to become involved from a business standpoint.

“I was born there, raised there. I grew there. And I just wanted to really support the team. I didn’t necessarily know how it was gonna go. I didn’t know if I would be able to make an impact in sports because sports is way different, you know? You look at sports fans’ reactions to a lot of things. Whether it be me hosting the ESPYs or whether it be–It’s just sports is a different type of appreciation. When people from other genres start coming in. So, I had high hopes for what we could accomplish, but I was just there purely for the city. And the union made sense.” (Grantland)

Footage of Drizzy getting his roll on nearly went viral at the Raptors’ Game 2 match-up earlier this week.

Drake loves watching his Toronto Raptors, and apparently he likes looking clean while cheering on his favorite team. The rapper who recorded “Started From The Bottom” was seen vigorously brushing his pants off with what appeared to be a lint roller while sitting in his courtside seats (see video above). It didn’t take long for the video to go viral. Drake is a “global ambassador” for the Raptors brand. The team held a “Drake Night” earlier this season. (ESPN)

During last weekend’s opening match-up, Drizzy used an opportunity to fire a shot at one-time Nets minority owner Jay Z.

Appointed “Global Ambassador” of the Raptors last fall, Drake joined the TSN broadcast of Game 1 on Saturday, firing off a one-liner in the direction of rapper Jay-Z, who used to be a minority owner of the Nets. “Jay-Z is somewhere eating a fondue plate,” Drake said. “It’s our time. We’ve got to keep it competitive. This is an ironic match-up.” (Sports Illustrated)

Jigga took direct aim at Drizzy and defended his knack for rhyming about high-profile art on a recently released “We Made It” remix.

Hov takes the opportunity to stunt on his haters with a killer verse. “Sorry Mr. Drizzy for so much art talk / Silly me rapping about sh*t that I really bought / While these rappers rap about guns they ain’t shot and a bunch of other silly sh*t that they ain’t got / I’m on my Lupita Nyong’o / Stuntin’ on stage after 12 Years a Slave,” he boasts.
