Friday morning, Drake dropped his fifth studio album. Titled Scorpion, it’s safe to say that all of the work put in on its 25 tracks was worth it, considering it is already eligible for a double-Platinum certification from the RIAA (due to the fact that it’s a double-sided album). Destined to reach #1 on Billboard, here’s 5 Things You (Probably) Didn’t Know About Scorpion.

1. Drake Acknowledges His Son

The rumors were finally confirmed on the B-side track “March 14”. Yes, Drake does have a child that was mothered by Sophie Brussaux, a former porn star. His lyrics addressing the matter read as “She not my lover like Billie Jean but the kid is mine… Now it’s rough times, I’m out here on front lines just trying to make sure that I see him sometimes. It’s breaking my spirit, single father, I hate when I hear it”. He went even more in-depth on the track “Emotionless”, saying “I wasn’t hiding my kid from the world, I was hiding the world from my kid”.

2. Drake’s Last Album With Cash Money

Birdman was quoted in 2015 telling Angie Martinez that Drake and Nicki Minaj would remain with Cash Money even if Lil Wayne parted ways with the label, but at this point, it seems like the Toronto rapper has found a way out. While the exact details aren’t known, the last song on the A-side of Scorpion (“Is There More”) is perfectly clear with the lyrics “Soon as this album drop I’m out of the deal.”

3. Scorpion Featured some pretty big names.

Throughout the album, there are plenty of features, hooks, and guest verses. Drake went all over the map for them, reaching every side of the musical world.

Some of the featured artists include JAY-Z, Ty Dolla Sign, Paul Jefferies, Nicki Minaj, 5th Ward Weebie, Partynextdoor, and DJ Boof among multiple others. The production on Scorpion was very impressive, and Drake went as far as sampling artists such as Mariah Carey and the deceased legend Michael Jackson.

4. Does Drake Confirm Dating Bella Hadid?

Rumors had been flying around involving the pair ever since they were spotted leaving a Los Angeles club together last year. Drake later threw Hadid a massive 21st birthday party, during a time where she was off and on with fellow star The Weeknd. The speculations might have been confirmed on “Sandra’s Rose”, when he raps “My house is full of supermodels like Mohamed Hadid” (Bella’s father). Another glaring hint lies in “Finesse”, seeming to mention Bella and her sister Gigi with the line “You stay on my mind, you and your sister are too hot to handle”. Even if they never considered themselves a true couple, these lines at least confirm that there were some feelings involved.

5. JAY-Z addresses the murder of XXXTentacion.

The 20-year old rapper XXXTentacion was shot and killed just over a week ago in Deerfield, Florida. Hov paid tribute to the “SAD!” rapper and expressed his frustration with Trayvon Martin’s killer George Zimmerman with the line “Y’all killed X and let Zimmerman live, streets is done.” His whole verse can be heard on the A-side track “Talk Up”, which is proving to be one of the album’s most popular tracks. This isn’t the first time JAY-Z has mentioned Zimmerman, either. He called him out on DJ Khaled’s “Top Off” last year after Zimmerman threatened to beat him.
