Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West is all-day Team Adidas but still has love for his past Nike days. The hip-hop veteran reportedly wants to own the name of his Nike “Red October” 2014 sneakers.

According to reports, Yeezy has applied for a trademark to own the rights to “Red October” and could start merchandising once he receives the green light.

If approved, the trademark would allow ‘Ye to use (and presumably license) his “Red October” mark for shirts, jerseys, bras, thongs, parkas, capes, body stockings, tankinis, baby bibs, swim caps, PJs, gloves and lots of other stuff as well. Oh … and footwear too, of course. According to the docs, obtained by TMZ, Kanye’s OG 2013 trademark application for the name fell through since he didn’t finish filing all the necessary paperwork. Makes sense he’d want this — the shoes are still wildly popular, and retail for thousands. (TMZ)

Recently, rap rookie Lil Uzi Vert talked about going on a shopping outing with Kanye.

“He’s never thinking about himself,” Uzi said when asked what his recent experience with Kanye West was like. “It’s weird. I thought he was gonna be grabbing. He was grabbing everything for his family. He said, ‘I don’t even get dressed no more I swag out my family.’ At that moment I realized, I gotta swag out my whole family. I really didn’t want him to [pick clothes for me] so I was running away. I was running to the other side so I could get my own drip. Look what I got.” (MTV News)

Days prior, Lil Uzi popped a pic of himself and Ye shopping onto his Instagram page.

The epic pic also sparked a reaction from New York hip-hop artist Azealia Banks.
