Ruff Ryders leader DMX has come forward to speak out on his past issues with OVO Sound boss Drake and explained why they are now on good terms.

X reflected on his past issues with Drake and applauded Drizzy for reaching out to him for permission to sample “What These B*tches Want” for his chart-topping Views album.

“I did always say [Drake] was a talented lyricist. But I was not a fan, you’re right. I was not. Another humbling experience. Most people were like, ‘You didn’t like this dude for all the wrong reasons.’ … But for him to take the effort, first to want to use a song of mine and then to be man enough to reach out and make that call, that was a real move. Real is real. Right is right. That was a real move. I salute him for that.” (“The Breakfast Club”)

Earlier this year, Drake’s go-to producer Noah “40” Shebib credited X for influencing their Views album.

Back in 2012, DMX bashed Drake for trying to put out a posthumous Aaliyah album.

“Drake,” X said when asked what artists he feels are not talented. “He is [talented], he has talent but it’s kind of redundant. It’s kind of the same all the time, sounds the same, to me, personally, it’s like an annoying sound. [noises] It’s like a washing machine. [noises] Or a dryer. [noises] You know what, I don’t even have to explain why. I just don’t like what it is and I’m kind of feeling some kind of way about the fact you’ve commissioned, you’ve been blessed, you’ve been given the opportunity to do the Aaliyah album yet you don’t include anybody that she worked with personally? What part of the game is that? I’ma tell you why I’m mad, son! There’s a reason why I feel the way I feel. How do you do that? How do you disregard what this woman did, what this beautiful angel did.” (MTV RapFix)

A few years ago, DMX publicly went at Drake during a live radio interview.

“No, no,” X said when asked if he likes Drake. “I don’t like anything about Drake. I don’t like his f*cking voice. I don’t like what he talks about, I don’t like his face, I don’t like the way he walks, I don’t like nothing. I don’t like his haircut. I might just — let me shut up. Stop right there.” (“The Breakfast Club”)
