When DJ Webstar spoke out against Jay-Z‘s new single “Death Of Autotune,” Jay brushed him off saying, “he don’t no know better.” Webstar explains to SOHH what he feels about Jiggas dissmissive stance.

Webstar told SOHH that he doesn’t regret speaking his mind about “D.O.A.”

“I’m not gonna say I regret it but I probably wouldn’t do it again. I speak my mind and stand up for what I believe in,” he said. “I feel nobody else was gonna speak up. I believe that the young people need somebody to speak for them. I’d be more than happy to speak I don’t care who it is, Jay-Z, Oprah whoever I speak up against anybody if I feel it’s the right thing to do. I love his music I bought all his albums. Just ’cause he’s a legend and he’s a big hip-hop mogul don’t mean he’s always right. Nobody’s always right but God. I speak for what I believe in.”

Webstar initially responded to the song via Twitter.

“Who heard old a** Jay-Z hating,” he wrote. “Bottom line is a 40 year-old can’t relate to a 17 or 22 year-old so he could never end my career. @bowwow614 I know he’s a legend bro, just like you a legend but I don’t give a f*ck about that just ’cause you a legend don’t mean you take out my family’s mouth. At the end of the day he’s a human just like me, he ate already enough for everybody, let the young n*gga’s eat. I know y’all said he ain’t say my name but who else could he be talking about besides me and [Ron] Browz? He shouted everybody else out that do it. And I only have two songs with autotune anyway but still right is right and wrong is wrong, legend or not!” (DJ Webstar’s Twitter)

In a radio interview Jay-Z downplayed Webstar’s comments.

“Nah, he’s a young guy,” Jay explained in an interview. “So he probably, he doesn’t have a full understanding of what I’m saying. So, you know, or maybe he’ll understand one day, but right now, he’s a young guy. He doesn’t know no better…It’s a new classic, that’s what I like to call it.” (WGCI)

Webstar insists the he is not going to let Jay-Z’s opinion stop him from making auto-tuned records.

“He was young at one point. When he was young if he would’ve listened to everything all the older rappers and everybody told him he wouldn’t be who he is today. He wouldn’t be Jay-Z. He wouldn’t have all these albums. I can’t listen to nobody. I gotta do what I feel is right in my heart and I gotta make the music I know how to make. At the end of the day this is fun and I love to do it but this is a business too.” (SOHH)

DJ Webstar is currently in the studio working on a collaborative album for E1 (formerly Koch Records) with fellow Harlem representative Jim Jones.

Rappers Jim Jones and DJ Webstar are working on a full-length album in the wake of the success of “Dancing On Me.” The two collaborated on that song, which has garnered commercial success on the nation’s radio stations and hip-hop clubs. The album is tentatively titled “Rooftop,” and should hit shelves before the end of the year. (AHN)
