Miami's DJ Khaled is going to raise eyebrows when his upcoming Suffering From Success compilation album finally hits store shelves by including a guest spot for President Barack Obama.
While Khaled kept the details to a minimum, he did promise the head of state would appear on his LP.
DJ Khaled doesn’t just shout “We The Best” on your favorite rap tracks for nothing. In his NiteCap interview with Peter Bailey, the music mogul says he has President Barack Obama on his album, which can be considered a win in our books. Rewind to April 2013 when the country’s Head-of-State walked out at the White House Correspondents dinner to the tune of Khaled’s street banger “All I Do Is Win.” That epic moment opened up the gates for a collaboration on wax. “Obama is on my album,” Khaled says. “What you want me to do? I’m not lying. You’ll see.” (VIBE)
Earlier this year, Khaled reacted to President Obama make “All I Do Is Win” his entrance music at a correspondent’s dinner and said the song’s overall message was a perfect fit for him.
“Obama, I see you, and I appreciate you,” Khaled said into the camera when MTV News caught up with him Tuesday night at the Gig It launch party in New York. “‘All I Do Is Win’ is one of the biggest anthems of all time, I think, and it’s a timeless record,” he said of the monster hit that features T-Pain, Ludacris, Snoop and Rick Ross. “It represents winners, and Obama’s a winner, I’m a winner, you’re a winner. And it represents the people, and it’s love and excitement, so shout-out to Obama.” (MTV)
At the annual gathering, the president also joked about being attached to rap mogul Jay-Z‘s Cuba controversy from earlier in the summer.
Later on, Obama had the chance to take a slick jab at Jay-Z, who caused a media frenzy with his visit to Cuba and subsequent “Open Letter.” Talking about issues that he has to deal with that are out of his control, Obama said, “It’s unbelievable… I have 99 problems and now Jay-Z is one of them.” Interestingly enough, the President does not appear to be as concerned about Beyonce, who also went on the trip with her husband and created her own controversy at the recent inauguration by apparently lip-synching the National Anthem. At last year’s gathering, the head of state showed some love to Atlanta’s Young Jeezy.
During his speech/comedy routine at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday night (Apr. 28), U.S. President and self-admitted rap fan Barack Obama joked about following his impromptu Al Green rendition in January with a take on everyone’s favorite Snowman, Young Jeezy. At the 14:30 mark, Obama starts to wrap up his speech by giving a “quick preview of the secret agenda you can expect” if he is re-elected in 2012. “In my first term, I sang Al Green,” he says. “In my second term, I’m going with Young Jeezy.” Following the nervous laughter from his onlookers (some of whom are likely unfamiliar with Jeezy’s brand of thug motivation), Obama followed the joke by saying, “Michelle said, ‘Yeeeeah.’ I sing that to her sometimes.” (Billboard)
