DJ DubbZ’ Social Distance Brunch Works To Unite NYC Through COVID-19

Just because the United States is still battling COVID-19 doesn't mean people can't come together safely. New York radio personality DJ DubbZ is here to put that into action. Every Sunday he hosts The Social Distance Brunch in Queens.

Quarantine Eats

On the 12th floor of the Z Hotel in the Big Apple, he’s been rocking out big time. At the Savanna Rooftop, the views and music mix together like nothing else. Despite everything going on, tables are available in a manner where people can socialize yet be safe and still have a fun time.

United As One

During such a hard time, it’s amazing to keep everybody so united and turning up together in a safe manner. DubbZ spoke on the event’s community impact to SOHH. He’s also linking up with the rest of his audience, and hosting an industry talk next Monday while also giving away a pair of Yeezys.

“This event brings people together because this was the first time I saw people all meet at one location to go eat, drink, and listen to music. I myself was quarantined the entire lockdown, I actually stayed home for like four months so this was the first event series that I saw being put together. I’m happy to be a part of it. Although your not really allowed to mix and mingle with people from other tables officially, it’s really hard to keep people away from each other. It’s human nature to want to be social, so as long as people have their masks on they talk and mingle around the bathroom area and when they are walking around the venue taking pictures of the view.” – DJ DubbZ

Wait, There’s More

As the country still faces the coronavirus pandemic, there’s no telling when life will go back to normal. At least events can happen when properly planned out, but DubbZ doesn’t see anything returning to normal for a while.

“Well nightlife in NYC is non existent right now. The only places that are putting up any kind of numbers are nice rooftop spaces and restaurants that have outdoor space to sit and eat. We haven’t even gotten to the Winter season yet so it’s going to be interesting to see what Mayor Cuomo and Governor De Blasio do with live events. I hear it could all be shut down, and I’m also hearing they will start allowing higher capacity as the months go by, it’s all speculation at this point. My personal opinion: I don’t think things will go back to normal for at least 2-3 years. As I think about it more, I don’t think we will ever see normal again as long as politics keeps playing a big role in how we are handling this pandemic. I saw a video of a recent rave in Wuhan… where it all started, thousands of people were partying without masks and they seem to be dealing with this pandemic amazingly, I honestly don’t know how they got to that place where they can do a full rave… it baffles me, but , I hope we can get back to large events as soon as possible because that’s how I’ve been able to thrive for the past ten years of my life. I chose to be a DJ, and it’s been an amazing ride, I guess this was God just telling me to pump the breaks, enjoy your family, and take a breather.”

Scott Storch Q&A

DubbZ recently spoke to Scott Storch about Tekashi 6ix9ine. SS says he doesn’t see himself ever working with the felon-turned-snitch ever again.
