According to Xavier Donaldson, Clue is catching heat over false accusations.

The 38 year old, real name Ernesto Shaw, was arraigned on Wednesday afternoon at Manhattan Criminal Court and released on bail after being charged with driving on a suspended licence. He also faces a drug charge after cops allegedly found him in possession of three pills, and his lawyer, Xavier Donaldson, insists the star is determined to fight the accusations. Donaldson says, “He doesn’t drive around with a suspended licence nor does he drive around with any illegal items.” (Contact Music)

Details of the mid-week arrest scattered across the Internet yesterday (April 3).

A Power 105 DJ was busted for drugs this morning at an NYPD checkpoint in Manhattan, authorities said. DJ Clue, whose real name is Ernesto Shaw, was driving in Greenwich Village when he was stopped at 2 a.m. on Varick Street, cops said. Shaw, 39, was driving with a suspended license and when police searched him they found three pills wrapped in foil in his pants pocket, cops said. The famed radio DJ has had his license suspended eight times, law enforcement sources said. He was arrested on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, police said. (New York Post)

Prior to joining rival station Power 105.1 a few years ago, Clue made a name for himself at Hot 97.

DJ Clue launched his career in the mid-’90s with signature mixtapes that were high-quality production and featured exclusive songs. One 1994 tape featured unreleased work by The Notorious B.I.G., accelerating his rise to fame. DJ Clue joined Hot 97 as a radio personality in the late 1990s before releasing two major label releases via Rock-A-Fella/Def Jam. He later created his own label, Desert Storm, and left Hot 97 for Power 105.1. (NBC New York)
