Fifteen years after the now-infamous New York City nightclub shooting involving music mogul Diddy and protégé Shyne, one of the victims has stepped forward to speak out.
Victim Natania Reuben publicly came out on social media to address the shooting’s 15-year-anniversary coverage.

According to reports, Reuben received nearly $2 million as a result of the 1999 shooting.
Diddy was acquitted of all charges and Shyne spent eight years in prison. Diddy later settled civil suits from the victims in 2011, shelling out over $2.3 million to the victims. Reuben was shot in the face during the incident and paid a $1.8 million settlement from Diddy. She expressed thankfulness for having survived the ordeal. (VIBE)
In 2012, Shyne said the notoriety which surrounded the 1999 club shooting sprouted Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez‘s acting roles.
“I wasn’t thugging and bugging that night, you dig,” Shyne said in an interview. “I was actually the best behaved because I don’t drink and I don’t smoke. You dig? But I’m from the streets so when it’s time for my hammer to go off, it goes off. Somebody was getting ready to pop ol’ boy’s head off. It might not have been no Jennifer Lopez movies or none of that if I didn’t pull my ratchet and squeeze off.” (WGIV)
Back in 2010, Shyne recounted how the shooting all went down.
“I can tell you I was defending myself and the muthaf*ckas that was with me,” Shyne explains. “Listen, I live my life for what’s right. When I grew up, death and harsh consequences and spending the rest of your life in the pen is a matter of fact. It’s not somethin’ that you read about in the newspaper…In my life, when I make decisions to roll, I roll. And I don’t give a f*ck what the consequences are. If I’ma defend myself, I’ma defend myself. If somebody tryna kill or hurt one of my partnas or my comrades that’s with me, there is no, ‘Yo… or D*mn, well, if I pull this sh*t out, this is what’s gonna happen.’ No! I don’t wanna die. I don’t wanna be laid up in no f*ckin’ hospital with a tube runnin’ through me, hurtin’ and sufferin’. Pain is real. So you know what? I’m not doin’ that. You gon’ do that, muthaf*cka. You gon’ roll and say hi to Satan, not me. And that’s that. After the fact, you deal with it. Your survival instincts tell you to protect and preserve, and you deal with whatever later.” (XXL Magazine)
