Bad Boy Records CEO Diddy doesn’t want to see the rap game explode on account of his opinion. The music mogul has come forward to provide some clarity over comments he made this week about a lack of originality in the hip-hop community.
Last night, Puff Daddy went to his Instagram Story to speak up on how he didn’t mean to provoke any negative feelings by his dicey statement.
“I wanted to readdress what I was talking about yesterday. Everything I said yesterday was with positive intentions. I want it to remain that way. I My thing is to push people to be great. I’m not no moral compass on who’s wack and who’s hot. You can like whoever you want. I was just sharing some tips on how to get to the bag and originality and something special is key. And then I was just giving my views on the state of just being overwhelmed trying to, as a fan, I want to find things that I love and it’s not a whole body of work I listen to right now other than Black Panther. My intentions were just to speak on pushing artists in any way that I can as a fan and also as Diddy to be the greatest that they can be.”

Yesterday, New York radio veteran Funk Flex took Diddy’s initial words to call some rappers wack including Nicki Minaj and Lil Pump.

Hours prior, Dipset’s Juelz Santana publicly co-signed rap mogul Diddy’s heartfelt clip by reposting it onto his IG page.
“So many people rapping right now. I love it. It is literally too much. It’s a lot to take in everyday. Everybody saying the same sh*t in different ways. It’s just my opinion. I’m not knocking nobody’s dream. I just don’t want the culture to get diluted where it gets so mass produced it doesn’t mean anything. Artists have to be special. Every artist has to be unique. I’m just trying to say if you’re going to be in this game be great because you can also be a part of the noise. All you inspiring rappers out there and R&B artists and singers and dancers, keep doing your thing. Be special.”

Coincidentally, Cash Money boss Birdman recently called Nicki Minaj the greatest female rapper of all time.
