Bad Boy Records CEO Diddy has delved into his new business partnership with Hollywood icon Mark Wahlberg on water beverage AQUAhydrate and confirmed hounding the movie star to get involved.

According to Wahlberg, Puffy latched onto him after seeing how often he carried around the fitness-based drink.

“He stalked me with this water bottle,” Mark laughingly said. “He used to see me everywhere carrying this water bottle and I usually have three or four of them with me. First time I saw him was in Vegas and he’s saying, ‘What’s this blue bottle? What’s this blue bottle?’ And I wouldn’t tell him. And then finally, he was very persistent, and soon after that, became my partner and here we are. … He was chasing me around, asking me what that blue bottle was. He said, ‘I always wanted to have my own water.’ I said, ‘Well, this is my water.’ Persistence pays off and now he’s a partner.” (AQUAhydrate)

Puff, standing alongside Mark, confirmed his story and said he told the movie star he wanted a piece of the pie.

“Great partner to have,” Diddy said, referring to Wahlberg. “[He] works even harder than me. You know, he’s the most powerful guy in Hollywood. … I want in. I want in, I need to be in, Mark.” (AQUAhydrate)

Buzz behind the unexpected partnership circulated online yesterday (February 27).

Entertainment powerhouse Sean “Diddy” Combs and actor/producer Mark Wahlberg today announced a joint venture with Southern California-based fitness and wellness water brand, AQUAhydrate. Per the arrangement, Combs and Wahlberg will oversee business strategy along with CEO John Cochran, formerly President of Fiji Water. Together they will help drive the AQUAhydrate vision and be instrumental in helping secure retail partnerships for the water brand, such as their recently signed deals with Safeway, Kroger and GNC. The news comes weeks after AQUAhydrate hooked up with the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers basketball team.

Today, AQUAhydrate announced that it has aligned with the Clippers for the 2012-2013 NBA season. According to a press release, AQUAhydrate will be stocked in the team’s training facility and at Clippers games. “Staying well-hydrated on and off the court is an essential key to performing at the top of your game,” Nate Puksta, AQUAhydrate’s V.P. of marketing, said in the release. “AQUAhydrate’s high pH levels and performance-grade electrolytes are just what the Clippers need to help achieve this.” (BEVNET)
